Rhymes with toss

Craven BBC for letting Jonathan Woss back into a television studio after his three-month (is it only that long?) purdah for being coarse with Russell Brand. Scandals are sometimes forgotten but this one won't be. Ross is vulgar, unfunny and untalented but very pushy. However, the live-it-up zeitgeist he stood for is on the wane: people are too worried about their jobs to care whether his eyes are rolling round at the thought of being battered about the head by some pneumatic Hollywood starlet. A stain on his character and reputation - or what's left of it. He is a loathsome waste of flesh who has too much money and hasn't spent any of it on learning how to behave. Putting himself in the hands of a psychiatrist and a teacher of elocution would be a start.

PS: One scandal that was forgotten involved Alec Guinness, the late actor, who was had up for committing a homosexual act in a public lavatory in Liverpool in 1946. He was fined 10 guineas but avoided publicity by claiming to police and in court that his name was Herbert Pocket, a minor character in Great Expectations . Isn't that marvellous? In fact, the incident was not so much forgotten as completely overlooked and only came to light some months after his death in 2000.
