Jacqui Smith's husband's porn viewing is between him and her, but it cannot possibly be a matter for the taxpayer. At best this is a most unsavoury oversight. There's nowhere left to go for her in career terms - you cannot recover from such ridicule - but it's a safe bet that she will be elevated to the Lords and given some highly paid non job once she's been put out by the electorate in Redditch. On a personal level, one feels very sorry for a woman who has been humiliated in such a way.
Nigel Griffiths being exposed as a liar over his Commons tryst - he failed to get an injunction against the Screws - is just awful because it shows breathtaking arrogance. His best course is to say he won't fight the election and Labour's best course is to make an example of him by withdrawing the whip (for the lying, not the leg up) and to deselect him for Edinburgh South.
All of the above, by the way, is part of the reason that people don't vote. Awful awful awful.
