The new owner of the Standard has appointed a troika of Fleet St veterans to some sort of board meant to guarantee editorial independence - whatever that is. One of the worthies is John Bryant, a nice enough fellow, whose last big job was soothe the remaining staff at the Telegraph before they were ejected from Canary Wharf. Such are his skills at folding paper that he is known as the origami man. He is a genuinely nice chap, actually.
