Sir Compton was looking up an old colleague the other day, Brizey O'Hurley, noted smoker, drinker, wit, womaniser and wearer of shabby overcoats. One overcoat, in fact - he only had the one. Brizey's father had died of cancer and he lived so much in fear of the same fate that he smoked and drank the more to take his mind off it. This revolutionary homeopathy had but one outcome, which was his demise of the dread disease while working as a sportswriter at some weekly paper in Yorkshire.
The point is, he died in the pre-internet age, or at least certainly before it was in most homes, and he has completely vanished. Not a trace online, no blog, no Twitter, no Wiki. Is this how humans will be measured in future? If you are strictly analogue, you're no more than a memory.
